RG101: Learning to Grade with Resolve

Description

This course is designed for first-time users and requires no prior experience. Whether you’re an editor, DIT, cinematographer, or photographer, RG101 lays a solid foundation in professional color grading by teaching not just how Resolve works — but why it works that way.

Over two days the course combines hands-on training with real-world workflows to prepare you for grading actual projects. You’ll learn the core tools, techniques, and approaches used by professionals, all in a relaxed and interactive environment where questions and group discussion are encouraged.

You Will Learn

  • Build timelines and perform basic editing

  • Understand and apply primary and secondary color correction

  • Read waveform scopes and histograms

  • Import timelines using XML from Premiere or Final Cut

  • Use the Scene Cut Detector on a baked export

  • Create and track Power Windows

  • Work with Node-based grading — and understand the logic behind them

  • Keyframe corrections and effects over time

  • Match shots across a sequence

  • Handle common camera formats and solve typical grading problems

  • Render final projects for platforms like Vimeo, ProRes, or return to your NLE

  • Complete a grading challenge to apply your skills

What You’ll Take Away
