MediaDB helps you create a database of all your hard drives. You can search for files, browse the directory trees while the drives are offline and even use it for creating an RCP file from an EDL when conforming.
If you have a lot of hard drives with source material (or other files) on them you might want to search for it without having to connect each drive. With MediaDB you don’t have to. You can scan your drives and then put them away, until you need a file and you use MediaDB to find on which drive it is.
You can even import an EDL from your NLE and it will find the files for you and tell you what drives they are on and create an RCP file which you then can use with Resolve Collect to copy all the files.
New in 1.2
- Browse speed optimised up to 20 times

- Improved GUI
Main tab

Scan Drive – scans the drive and adds it to the database. Make sure every drive has a unique name. If you add or remove files from the drive you can scan it again and the database will be updated.
Remove Drive – removes the drive from the database.
Location and Description can be entered by dubbel clicking the column.
Find tab

Find – Search for files and directories. In case you select “file name only”, the search will only look for the search string in the file name.
Browse to file – will show you the selected file in the Browse window
Browse tab

You can browse the directory structure of all drives added to the database and see the file sizes.
Group file sequences – when selected, each file sequence will be presented in the format filename[start-end].extension
Get Folder Size – you can select a folder and press the “Get Folder Size” button to calculate the size of all folders and files recursively.
Conform tab

Destination – this is where you copy your source files. The source files need to be in the original file structure.
Load EDL – select the EDL you want to use. The Reel Name needs to be the same as the filename without file extension. You will get information on which drive(s) the source is and it will also check if there are source which are already in the destination.
Make sure the EDL shows the whole Reel Name, for example in Avid Media Composer use “File_129” as the Output Format.

An RCP file will be created next to the EDL which you can use with Resolve Collect to copy the source files from the drive(s) to the destination.

If MediaDB has trouble scanning the external drives, please make sure Full Disk Access is enabled for the Application in System Preferences.
